The Travel Scout Program

An initiative that enables content creators 'travel scouts' to travel for free; in exchange for the content assets they create.

Travel Scouts claim assignments that could include anything from staying overnight at a variety of accommodations like guesthouses, b&bs, tent campsites, cabins, or unique structures; exploring a world heritage site in a multi-day group tour; or joining an experience or activity.

What Do Travel Scouts Do?

As a travel scout, you are responsible for providing content assets that capture the assignment brief, as well as your experience of adventuring in the area[s] the brief visits. Your content helps to set expectations for travellers who may want to use the tourism business you are collaborating with or visit the area, that you have just experienced.

The Travel Scout Program is an opportunity for content creators to visit unique places, try unique experiences, and stay in comfy accommodations by collaborating with tourism businesses and showcasing the way you see and experience their part of Africa.

Who Can Become A Travel Scout?

🌍 Anyone over 18 years old

Anybody who wants to have life-changing experiences and is at least 18 years old - there’s no age limit to participate!

🌍 No experience necessary

You don’t have to be a professional in any certain area - your resumé here is your knowledge, as well as your ability to create content that sells destination Africa.

🌍 Opportunities for all language levels

You don’t necessarily need to speak a specific language, but each host requires a certain proficiency level in a given language - including English. It’s also a great opportunity for you to practice another language

🌍 Travel is for everyone

We believe travel is a universal right, and we support everyone’s right to travel, no matter what their nationality, gender, age, condition, etc. Join the community. Pick the assignment that best matches your skills, and chat with the host about any questions you may have.

Benefits of Being A Travel Scout

In exchange for your content, you get the opportunity to explore Africa at your own pace with benefits unique to each assignment. New friends, learning, and connections of course!
  • Accommodation in comfortable single or shared rooms.
  • Local transportation, airport transfer and information on how to get around efficiently.
  • Experiences, entrance to attractions as well as must-attend local events.
  • Discounts on meals, drinks, arts and crafts from local businesses.

What Is Not Included In The Program?

Remember that the Travel Scout Program is an exchange, not a job, so you’ll be helping a host in exchange for accommodation and other benefits! If an assignment offers payment, the details of such will be included in the assignment details.

🌍 Tickets To Assignment Start Point

It’s solely the travel scout’s responsibility to arrive at and depart from their destination. So plan far enough ahead to get good discounts etc.

🌍Required documents

Do your research on visas, passports, travel and health insurance, and any other kind of document you need to travel, ok?

🌍Financial assistance

The Travel Scouts Program and our hosts are not responsible for any costs you may accrue during your stay, so plan to have enough spending money for your assignment’s duration and the places you’re traveling.

🌍Travel planning

The Travel Scouts Program is not a travel agency, so it’s up to you to find assignments that suit your skill set and plan your journey, alright? But of course, you can get your questions about The Travel Scouts Program answered by contacting our Support team via the contact page

How do I get started?

The main goal of the Travel Scout Program is content creation. If you are not a content creator but would like to be more involved, please reach out, and let us know which aspects you’d like to be involved in!
